Meet Ava, a sweet, gentle girl who loves nothing more than being close to her people. She is affectionate, easygoing, and happiest when she can be right by your side — or, preferably, completely sprawled across your lap! She is crate trained, sleeps peacefully in her crate, and is settling beautifully into her foster home. Ava is wonderful with other dogs and is a gentle, appropriate greeter with dogs of all sizes. She also loves cats! She enjoys being outside, especially when there’s a sunny spot available. She could happily spend hours sunbathing or rolling around in the grass.
Ava is a great leash walker and does best with a confident handler who can show her that the world is nothing to worry about. She can be a little timid when approached by people or when she encounters barking dogs, but she isn't fearful — she simply becomes more aware and looks to her person for reassurance. With calm, confident guidance, she is learning to keep moving forward and trust her people. She is also a fantastic car rider.
Ava has excellent house manners overall. She has shown some interest in counter-surfing, but has made huge progress with her foster family and hasn't done it since they began working with her. She greets visitors politely, is a little reserved at first, and then happily approaches for pets. Ava is truly just a big sweet baby with a gentle heart. She wants to be near her people, loves affection, and is looking to them to help her feel confident in the world. She would make a wonderful companion for a family ready to give her the love, reassurance, and confidence she so naturally gives in return.
