Meet Penny, a friendly, outgoing, and playful female Dobe with a big personality and an eagerness to engage with everyone! While she has moderate energy, her exercise needs are manageable—she does well with a few games of fetch or play sessions throughout the day and is happy to relax near her people afterward.

Penny is highly social and actively seeks out interaction with other dogs. She loves to play, especially games of tag/chase, but is still developing appropriate play manners. She can be a bit forward in her approach and may overwhelm more submissive or smaller dogs, so she benefits from well-matched, confident playmates and slow, structured introductions. Penny will not do well with cats. She is crate-trained, rides very well in the car, and knows basic commands such as “sit” and “place.” Penny is also very food-motivated, which makes her responsive to training. She is currently working on improving her leash skills and continues to make good progress.

Inside the home, Penny is affectionate and enjoys carrying around her stuffed animals, chewing away on durable toys, and relaxing close to her people. She is pretty low-maintenance inside the house and is happy to do her own thing, as long as her people or her toys are within close proximity. Penny will require an experienced owner who can provide structure and consistency. She has shown some leash reactivity and resource guarding around food and high-value items when other dogs are present, so continued training and management will be key for her!

Her ideal home should have experienced Doberman owners ready to provide a structured environment and continue her training. She would do best in a home without cats and with secure fencing, as she is an athletic climber and can scale chain link fences! Confident canine companions would also be a plus for Penny's forever home, but slow introductions will be required. Overall, Penny is a sweet, well-intentioned dog who truly wants to connect and do well. With the right guidance and environment, she will grow into a wonderful and well-balanced companion.
