Meet April, a 5-year-old female Doberman with a gentle, playful personality. April is a sweet, intelligent dog who forms strong bonds with her people and thrives on companionship and affection. While she enjoys bursts of playful energy — especially fetch, toys, and enthusiastically destroying tennis balls — April is equally content relaxing near her family, resting in her bed, or quietly soaking up attention. She has a charmingly expressive personality, including an adorable “chomping” habit where she clicks her teeth when excited.
April is a smart and eager learner who already knows several commands, including sit, down, stay, wait, and “go to your room.” She is highly food motivated, walks well on leash, rides calmly in the car, and settles nicely in her crate. She enjoys both interactive play and simply being close to her people. April would do best with an adopter who understands that she can be sensitive and timid at times. She can become startled by sudden loud noises or fast movements. Because of this, she will thrive in a patient, kind home that can continue helping her build confidence and feel secure.
She has shown friendly curiosity toward other dogs and tested positively with dogs in the shelter environment. She has also lived around cats and, while very interested in them, has shown no aggression. Continued supervision and guidance around cats would be recommended as she adjusts to a new home. April is adaptable and could do well in a variety of living situations, including a quieter home, an active household, or even apartment living provided she receives regular walks and companionship. Above all else, she is looking for a family who will offer her consistency, patience, and love.
April is an exceptionally sweet, soulful dog whose gentle demeanor and affectionate nature make her truly special. With the right home, she will be a deeply loyal and devoted companion.
-- A Special Note about April's Care --
April is awaiting an orthopedic consultation to evaluate a shoulder injury - but don't worry, this injury doesn't slow her down a bit! We will soon have a better idea of how this will impact April moving forward.
