Meet Tongo, a young, energetic male Doberman with a playful personality and a strong affection for both people and other dogs. At around one year old, he still has plenty of puppy energy and enjoys active playtime followed by long, restful naps.
Tongo gets along well with dogs of all sizes and is always eager to play - he'll happily seek out another companion if one dog needs a break! His play style is typical of a young dog—enthusiastic and sometimes a bit rough—so he requires guidance in learning boundaries and reading social cues.
Tongo walks nicely on a leash and enjoys neighborhood walks. He has recently graduated to public outings and has done very well in unfamiliar, pet-friendly store. He's very intuitive and will check in with you in unfamiliar situations or environments. He is crate trained, settles well during the day, and sleeps quietly through the night.
Tongo has adjusted quickly to his foster home and does well with new people when introduced in a familiar setting. Like many young Dobes, Tongo will need continued training to address some excited jumping and mouthiness. Because of this, Tongo would do best in a home with older children. He would thrive in a home with another dog to provide companionship and play.
Tongo has made remarkable progress since entering foster care, growing from a shut-down dog into a confident, affectionate companion. He enjoys being near his people, playing with other dogs, and relaxing after a day of activity. He enjoys durable chew toys and enrichment activities, though supervision is recommended with softer items. Tongo would do best in a home willing to provide structure, companionship, and consistency. In return, he offers loyalty, affection, and a joyful presence.
