Meet Vance — your smart, strong-willed Doberman puppy in progress!

Vance is a 9.5-month-old male Doberman who’s learning how to be the best version of himself. Picked up from a shelter and now thriving in foster care, Vance is a classic example of a smart, confident, and high-drive Doberman puppy who simply needs structure, leadership, and consistency.

He knows “sit” and “down,” and is working on crate manners, impulse control, and polite exits at doors and elevators. He’ll sit and wait to be released from his crate or to walk out the front door, and he’s eager to please when clear expectations are in place. He thrives in environments with routine, boundaries, and people who know how to lead.

Vance is crate trained and does very well when crated while you’re gone or appear busy. He may demand-bark if crated while you're relaxing nearby, but will usually settle within 5–10 minutes if ignored.

As with many Doberman pups, Vance is very mouthy — he will shred and swallow unsafe toys (plush, tennis balls, even tough rubber). He should only have tough, durable chews like Benebones and always be monitored when playing.

He’s played well with female dogs but is reactive to most other dogs, especially on leash or through barriers. Structured introductions and an experienced handler will be key. He has not been tested with children or cats, so we are recommending no small kids or feline siblings.

Vance is a work in progress — but exactly what you’d expect from a young male Doberman: strong-willed, intelligent, full of energy, and deeply loyal once he bonds. He’s not difficult — he’s just a young Doberman looking for someone to bring out his best.

Vance is best suited for a home with:

  • No cats

  • No small children

  • A strong, structured routine

  • An experienced adopter familiar with the Doberman breed

  • A commitment to training and leadership

  • Durable chew toys and appropriate outlets for energy

With the right guidance, Vance will grow into an incredible companion. He’s bold, brilliant, and already making great progress — he just needs someone who sees the Doberman he’s becoming.
