Meet Zeus — your stuffed-toy-loving gentle giant!

Zeus is a 5-year-old black and tan Doberman with the heart of a sweetheart and the soul of a homebody. He’s looking for a loving home to see him through heartworm treatment and into a life filled with comfort, companionship, and stuffed animals.

Zeus is crate trained and does very well in his crate, making him a great fit even for adopters who work outside the home. He’s working on potty training and starting to show more playful energy as he settles in. He rides well in the car, loves soft stuffed toys, and enjoys a good chew on a hard bone. While he’s mostly mellow right now, we expect his activity level to increase once he’s feeling 100% and heartworm-free.

He knows several basic commands like sit, down, stay, and paw/shake, and is highly food-motivated — especially when it involves cheese or pill pockets. Leash training is still a work in progress; Zeus is strong and finds squirrels extremely exciting, so his new family will need to continue helping him learn polite leash manners.

Zeus hasn’t been fully dog-tested yet, but so far he’s done well with female dogs. He gets excited when he hears or smells dogs nearby and may pull on leash, so any introductions should be slow and structured. He hasn’t been around children in foster care, so we recommend no kids under 8.

Zeus is a total velcro Doberman — happiest when he’s near his people, leaning in for love or lounging nearby. He doesn’t need much to be content: just a cozy place to rest, a stuffed toy to toss around, and someone to love.

Zeus is best suited for a home with:

• No cats

• No children under 8

• A calm, structured environment

• Owners experienced with large breeds and/or heartworm treatment

• Someone home regularly — or a strong crate routine

• Continued leash training and basic structure
